You can’t step into your future if you’re still living in yesterday.
You deserve to live in the moment and not be stuck in the past.
My passion is helping a client’s brain heal from past trauma. If you decide to schedule an EMDR intensive with me, our goal will be for you to be able to look back at your past and be free of negative emotions about yourself and change the negative core beliefs that are limiting you.
I like to give the example of – have you ever had a friend tell you a story and they were so down on themselves, expressing shame, guilt, feeling rejected, self blame – and you so clearly knew and FELT it wasn’t their fault, they shouldn’t blame themselves, they did nothing wrong – EMDR works to heal your brain from these memories so you can look back at your own past and truly FEEL differently about yourself. So your rational brain and your emotional brain both are saying “it’s not your fault,” “you are enough,” “the danger is over.”
EMDR is a treatment that the more you do, the more your brain heals. It’s not talk therapy. It’s a therapy that changes the ways the brain responds to situations it feels threatening. EMDR rewires the brain and stops the smoke alarm in your brain from going off when there is no smoke.
Trauma and chronic stress change the brain. It shrinks the amygdala, a part of your brain responsible for processing emotions. The constant stress of trauma increases cortisol which is a toxin to the hippocampus, a part of the brain responsible for memory function. This keeps you in flight, fight, freeze, fawn responses even when the danger is over. The brain can heal. Thanks to neuroplasticity, EMDR can help create new neural pathways.
You deserve evidence-based therapeutic care that effectively alleviates your distress.
EMDR in an eight-phrase therapy that targets how traumatic memories are stored in the brain, mind and body. It focuses on how past experiences get “stuck” in the brain and intrude into your present moments creating difficulties in your daily life. EMDR Intensives offer the same powerful healing approach in a more focused and time-effective way, often in just a few days.
EMDR is a proven approach to healing from past traumatic events. An EMDR Intensive brings this healing work together in a condensed format, allowing you to make meaningful progress more quickly. Treatment compresses what would take weeks, months or even a year of weekly EMDR sessions into one day or multiple day extended sessions. Instead of traditional hour long weekly therapy sessions, clients spend 4-6 hours per a day, over one to 5 days, in the therapeutic process. This creates space for deep, uninterrupted healing and can lead to faster, more noticeable relief.
